Indulgence by Irene – Cheesecake Present
My go to dessert whenever I dine outside is ice cream or cheesecake. GF knows this so she gifted me not one, but 4 cheesecakes from Indulgence by Irene. I’m not familiar with the brand but upon tasting, it is highly recommended.
Four Cheesecake Flavors
Indulgence by Irene has unusual (but definitely tasty) selections which is below my post. GF ordered the following for my birthday.
- Quezo de Bola
- Coffee with Bailey’s
Let’s start with the Halo-halo cheesecake. This is a first for me as halo-halo is usually shaved ice plus an assortment of toppings. Never imagined the local dish translated as cheesecake. Good job to Irene. J The cheesecake had 4 layers (I think) but the kicker is the langka jam that encapsulates the dessert into halo-halo. The top most layer is corn and there is also ube. The crust is a bit dense but I like it that way. This is a very interesting cheesecake that I will recommend.
Next is the Calamansi cheesecake. I liked that local produce were used in creating this cake (instead of lemon or lime). The tartness of the calamansi really cuts the creaminess of the cheesecake which hinders the “umay” feeling. I can eat a whole cake of this. Hehe.
A favorite of mind among the 4 cheesecakes is the Coffee with Bailey’s. Sisters and GF enjoyed this but not as much as the other 3. As with the other cakes, this is dense and creamy. The first taste will be a strong coffee taste that will linger then the Bailey’s liquor is a smooth finish that will stay in your mouth. The two tastes complement each other well.
Last but not the least is the Quezo de Bola cheesecake. A Filipino staple during Christmas season, this should be used more in our cheesecakes. Sisters and GF particularly liked this. As with combining various cheeses, there can be a problem with the taste being too overbearing as Quezo de Belo is very in your face when eaten on its own. Thankfully, Irene’s version was subtle. There is the delightful cream cheese note with a subtle and lingering Quezo de Bola taste. Double thumbs up.
Indulgence by Irene offers a wide variety of cheesecake flavors not commonly found in restaurants in Metro Manila. For those looking for a different take on cheesecakes, I highly recommend Indulgence by Irene. Even those looking for the traditional cheesecake, you can’t go wrong.
