Craftpoint Brewing Company – Beer Explorer Club – Mango India Pale Ale

After a long hiatus, Tomguts is back. Back with a different review–not on food but on beer.

I subscribed to Craftpoint Brewing Company’s  Beer Explorer club some time ago, and I’ve only started to drink the unique creations as of late. Below is my newbie (but has vast experience with San Miguel Pale Pilsen) review of their beers.

I will be categorizing the beer review into the following parts – taste/smell, carbonation/mouth feel.

Mango India Pale Ale

From the name alone, I was expecting at least an aftertaste or a whiff of mango essence from this IPA. This tasted like an ordinary IPA. Maybe my palate is not trained to catch the mango note but a beer with mango on its name should at least give a traceable scent and flavor of it. This fails in terms of that.

This beer is refreshing and has the right mouthfeel. Smooth and easy to drink. A summer drink for me. However, this is over carbonated. Upon opening, it won’t stop foaming. Even the initial pour was mostly foam. I had a hard time consuming this.

I am underwhelmed by the Mango India Pale Ale from Craftpoint Brewing Company’s Beer Explorer Club, but I am still hopeful of the other beers as their staple beers like Liberation and Summer Passion are quite good. The Beer Explorer Club is their avenue for expressing whatever the brewmaster had in mind and the Mango India Pale Ale was one of the fun ideas that didn’t live to its name.
